Day 30

San Remo Channel Challenge
Today's swim run marked 25 years of this annual event & the record number of 788 competitors.

The swim is a distance of 500 metres starting across the channel at the fishing village of San Remo.
Due to the strong tide flow through the channel the swim can only take place on the slack water of the appropriate high tide.
Slack water of the high tide lasts approximately fifteen mins in which time 500+ competitors must complete the swim.
The swim finish comes ashore at Newhaven, Phillip Island on the north side of the channel where the competitors then put on their running shoes & run across the bridge & back down the main street of San Remo to the finish line, a distance of 2kms.

note: learned a valuable lesson  today —
if you don't charge your camera battery you miss out on all the highlights & action shots!

Project 365

2012 . . .
oh dear, only 78 days,
so that'd be an F?

2011 . . .
neglected after 85 days,
it's another F!

2010 . . .
all done,
it's an A+!

2009 . . .
8 weeks of layouts only,
it's an F for fail!

I live in a beautiful part of the world, with glorious ocean views, kangaroos bounding across the hilltops, assorted wildlife (echidnas, cape barron geese etc), birdlife & reptiles (not all nice . . . tiger snakes & copperheads —eek!)
